Female circumcision, or mutilation of the genitals, is one of the most political areas of women's health. Worldwide it is estimated that well over 100 million women have been subjected to it.
The health benchmark for men is between three and four units a day - approximately one and a half to two pints of normal strength beer. Any more than this, and the health risks begin to rise.
Malaria kills over a million people a year and is second only to tuberculosis in its impact on world health. The parasitic disease is present in 90 countries and infects one in 10 of the world's population
Do you see your dentist regularly?
Visit your dentist every six months, or as recommended by your dental health care professional. Talk to your kids about what will happen at the dentist to alleviate any fears about the unknown. An older sibling can also help first-timers feel more comfortable about visiting the dentist. Ideally, children should visit a dentist by their first birthday.
Do you eat nutritious foods?
Remember to include healthy foods in your family's diet to ensure strong teeth. Foods rich in calcium, such as milk and cheese are great options during any meal. Also, remember to have healthy snacks like carrots and apples for after school rather than sticky, sugary foods that can stay on teeth and lead to cavities.
