Beer companies' deal sets stage for cut-throat rivalry.

The stage is set for cut-throat rivalry and competition in beer brewing and marketing in the local market following the conclusion of a deal to end a protracted court battle in London involving Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL). By agreeing to amicably settle a distribution dispute with its erstwhile partner, East Africa Breweries (EABL), the two giant brewing companies in the region are now expected to raise their respective stakes in beer distribution and marketing to woo more clients. TBL announced in a media advertisement yesterday that it had agreed to a cordial settlement of its disputes with Kenyas EABL relating to the Tanzanian beer market.

Plans underway to launch fast trains.

Plans are underway to establish a speeding train as the move to improve railway service provision in the country.
The Minister for Infrastructure Dr. Shukuru Kawambwa told the parliament in Dodoma yesterday that the fast speed train would be travelling at 120 kilometres per hour. The current speed train travels at 35 kilometres per hour.
Responding to a question by the special seat MP Janeth Kahama, Dr. Kawambwa said the government is planning to upgrade the rail tract by expanding its gauge from 1000 metres to standard gauge of 1435 metres.
