We have included various tours in this section as they are a definite
must if you will be staying in Stone Town for a couple
of days and are tired of what you can see there. The Spice
Tour and Jozani Forest are on the top of the list.
There are hundreds of places to see throughout the island, far
too many to list on this website. If you let us know where
you are planning on staying, we will give you advice on
what to see, or help you arrange to go and see it.
Spice Tour
The
name speaks for itself. This tour takes you to various
areas where spices are harvested. Also recommended by
us, you will have the pleasure of seeing cinnamon trees,
nutmeg trees, vanilla trees (believe it or not) and the
likes. You will be asked to smell and taste various spices
and guess what they are, as well as witness harvesters
climbing huge trees with no harnesses or protection, to
bring down coconuts for your delight. The rest we will
leave you to discover, as it is not good to spoil the
fun.
Jozani Forest
This
is a protected forest housing the endangered Red Colobus
monkey. This is definitely worth a visit, if only to see
the monkeys. Nature walks are offered through the forest
and is a great way to see the wildlife on the island.
Be sure to dress comfortably, as there is very little
shade on the walk.

Nungwi is the one of the most popular places for diving on the island
of Zanzibar. Although there are only 3 major reefs, most
dive shops arrange diving out to Mnemba if you get tired
of the local reefs.

Leven Bank
Max Depth: 40m
Due to the strong currents
this is only for experienced divers. In our opinion this
is the best reef off the island of Zanzibar. What makes
it so attractive is the array of reef and pelagic fauna
which includes Guitarfish, Tuna, Moray Eels, Barracuda,
Dolphins, and White Tip Reef Sharks. There is a huge variety
of coral with clusters of Honeycomb and Pillar Coral.
Hunga Reef
Max Depth: 20m
The reef is ideal for
beginner divers and has a large variety of reef fish amongst
some very well preserved coral. Large schools of Unicorn
and Surgeonfish can be seen and the occasional Barracuda
and Reef Shark.
